Supporting Braden Brodeur – Urban Missionary at WEM
Bringing the hope of Jesus to youth, mall workers, and the next generation in Edmonton
West Edmonton Mall is more than just a shopping centre. With over 24,000 employees and more than 30 million visits each year, it is a bustling city within a city — full of stores, restaurants, attractions, and people searching for something more than material goods or fleeting entertainment.
Tucked on the second floor, across from the Fantasyland Hotel, you will find Lovedmonton Chapel — a vibrant ministry outpost where people encounter the love of Jesus Christ. New Hope Christian Assembly is privileged to support Braden Brodeur, Community Service Pastor, along with Chaplain and Administrator Tammy Saunders, in this unique marketplace mission.
Unlike a traditional church building, Lovedmonton feels warm and welcoming — with comfortable diner-style booths, musical instruments, and a flexible space used for worship, Bible studies, weddings, and community gatherings. This relaxed atmosphere helps draw in those who might never step into a conventional church.
A Ministry Focused on Real Needs
Braden and the team serve at-risk youth and individuals facing unemployment, broken homes, addiction, and mental health struggles. Through youth drop-ins, one-on-one conversations, men’s groups, multicultural services, a Chinese church service, and Bible studies, they provide both spiritual hope and practical care.
The chapel has been faithfully ministering in the same location for 38 years, building trust through word-of-mouth and genuine relationships. It partners with other churches that share a basic Christian statement of faith.

Lives Are Being Changed
Recent stories from Braden’s ministry include:
- Eight young people (grades 9–10) seeking freedom from vaping addiction during a youth drop-in, with one young lady giving her life to Jesus.
- Timely conversations with mall employees facing serious health challenges.
- Walking alongside youth in mental health crises, including praying with a young man who survived a suicide attempt.
New Hope contributes $100 each month to Braden’s ministry.

Ministry Focus
Dr. Catherine and Alan Pysar are passionately building an innovative Bible college that equips the next generation of leaders with the fire of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word.
At the heart of YABC is a bold mission: to lead, coach, train, and equip young men and women to become world changers — anointed, biblical agents of transformation in their communities. YABC intentionally trains 70–100 pastoral leaders who are:
- Deeply God-dependent
- Sharp, proactive critical thinkers
- Grounded in practical theology
The impact has grown even further with a powerful chaplaincy program that has already reached and restored over 300 disenfranchised, emotionally, and spiritually broken children and youth — many of them prisoners — with the healing love and hope of the Gospel.

Dr. Catherine brings her PhD in Organization & Management together with a deep passion for raising excellent, sustainable Kingdom leaders.
Alan Pysar contributes 22 years of proven ministry leadership as Senior Pastor of Hope Mission in Edmonton — an inner-city ministry that has served and transformed the lives of over 1,000 women, children, youth, and men.
Together, they make an unstoppable team at Yesu Akwagala Bible College — blending academic excellence, pastoral wisdom, and frontline experience to produce leaders who will shift nations for Jesus Christ.
